BATH COUNTY, KY ESTATE SETTLEMENT: Stancliff/Standcliff Family BATH COUNTY, KENTUCKY ESTATE SETTLEMENT BOOK 1, page 148-150 An Administration Settlement dated Oct. 31, 1853 submitted an account of the settlement of the estate of James C. Stanclift to this date. John L. Richards, Administrator and Charles Whitington, Guardian of James' minor children Margaret and Lewis, presented their accounts. There was no mention in any of these documents of a widow. The document listed the amount gained by a sale of property held on Jul. 27, 1852 with terms allowing twelve months for payment. Other assets included the notes owed to the estate, a stand of wheat and thirty five yard of linen and minor collections of monies owed to the Estate produced a total asset of $1043.47 Taxes and bills in the amount of $165.33 reduced the total to 844.45. Distributions were made- $35.55 to Susan one of his heirs, $22.30 to Margaret one of his heirs, and $20.00 to Lewis one of his heirs. page 186 A Guardian report by Charles Whitington, Guardian of Susan, Margaret and Lewis was submitted to the Bath County Court on Feb. 13, 1854 indicated a balance of $729.70 but seemed to include a few notes not yet collected. page 364 A Guardian report by Charles Whitington submitted to the office of Thos B. Gordon, presiding Judge of the Bath County Court on Feb. 7, 1855 contained detailed accounts of expenditures made in behalf of each of his wards. $504.37 in assets remained. "The Guardian States that a number of the claims for money due his wards inventoried and filed have yet yealded nothing & he has only to report them Still in his hands he also has to report a Decree against by W. Mcdonald for the sum of $240 odd Dollars with interest which will Sometime Shortly be realized for the wards Guardian claims no commision."
