Fuson pg 172 In 1897 J. L. McCoy resigned as County Superintendent of Schools of Bell County, one year before his term ended, and P. W. Woollum, who lived at the mouth of Symms Fork of Left Fork of Straight Creek, was appointed to fill the vacancy. He served this year out and was elected that year for a four year term. He served as County Superintendent from 1898-1902. He has been teaching in the schools of Bell County for over fifty years and is still actively engaged in teaching.
