Homer "Smiley" Alford, Jr., 58, of Pineville, passed away on Monday, October 7, 2002 at the Pineville Community Hospital. He was born in Bell County on March 19, 1944 a son of the late Homer Alford, Sr. and Maude Golden Alford Sturgill. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers Bill, Estil, Johnny and Andrew Alford and sister, Fannie Centers. Survivors include his daughter, Melanie Alford, Pineville, sisters, Mary Sinkhorn, Pineville, Alta Reece, Taylor, MI and Maggie Jones, Tinsley, brother, Jesse Alford, Hutson, FL, special sister-in-law, May Alford, Garden City, FL, uncle Clarence Golden and a host of nieces and nephews. Services were held at 2:00 PM Thursday at the Arnett & Steele Funeral Home with Rev. Bill Dunn and Rev. Terry Cox. Music will be by Martha Whitehead and Ron Hensley. Burial followed in the Mills Cemetery, Tinsley. Pallbearers were friends of the family. The family received friends from 6 until 9 PM Wednesday at the Arnett & Steele Funeral Home, Pineville.
