Baker, 71, of Stoney Fork, passed away on Thursday, September 21, 2006 at the Baptist Hospital of East Tennessee. He was born in Beverly on May 24, 1935, the son of the late William M. and Susie Lawson Baker. He had worked in logging and for the State Highway Road Department. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Judy Brock Baker, sister, Ellie Hoskins and brothers, Earl and Leon Baker and best friend, Logan Helton. Survivors include his children and their spouses, Simon and Regina Baker, Faye and Mike Helton and Orville and Lula Baker; grandchildren, Heather and David Strunk, Tonia Helton, Whitney Baker, Joshua Baker and Lantz Smith; great- grandchildren, Logan, Tristen and Kaimen Strunk; sister, Gladys Baker, brother and sister-in-law, Albert and Rosie Baker and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Services were at 11:00 AM Sunday at the Arnett & Steele Funeral Home with Rev. Herstel Belcher and Mr. Ted Wilder. Music was by Kathy Brock and Shirley Caldwell. Burial was in the W.M. Baker Cemetery at Stoney Fork. Pallbearers were family and friends. The family received friends Saturday from 6 until 9 PM at the Arnett & Steele Funeral Home, Pineville.
