He was born in Flat Lick, KY a son of the late Alex and Sara Clouse Baker. James believed in the Baptist faith and had been a painter for the Fisher Homes Company. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by brothers, Clarence Baker, Everett Baker, Arnold, Baker and Elbert Baker; sisters, Effie Eckler, Virgie Messer, Velma Baker and Lois Jean Baker. Survivors include his son, Bobby Baker of Lexington, KY; brother, Arthur Baker; sisters, May Skinner and husband, Joe of Mason, OH, Helen Hampson and husband, Richard of Bromley, KY, Joyce Wells of Butler, KY, and Gertrude Phillips of Norwood, OH and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Services were at 3 PM Saturday at the Arnett & Steele Funeral Home in Pineville with Rev. Don Howard. Burial followed in the Gray Cemetery at Flat Lick. Pallbearers were family and friends. The family received friends from 12 until 3 PM at the Arnett & Steele Funeral Home in Pineville, which was honored to serve the Baker family.
