Ted Blevins, Sr., 82, of Kettle Island, passed away on Tuesday, March 16, 2004 at the Pineville Community Hospital. He was born in Stoney Fork, KY on June 2, 1921 the son of the late Charlie and Effie Saylor Blevins. He had been a coal miner at Harlan/Wallins Coal Company. He was a member of the Blevins Holiness Church at Kettle Island. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Rena Saylor Blevins, children, William Terrell, Charles, Wayne and Shirl Blevins, brothers, John and Frank Blevins and grandchildren, Alan Dean Blevins and Brittany Mitchem. Survivors include his children, Ted and Ardith Profitt Blevins, Jr., Margie Blevins Brock, Arthur Clinton and Janie Daughtery Blevins, James Edward and Donna Teaney Blevins and Nettie Sue Blevins and Roy Terrell all of Kettle Island, Calvin Ray Blevins of Middlesboro and Rosetta Blevins Caldwell of Stoney Fork, grandchildren, Timothy Mark, Charles Wayne, Becky, Doris Etta and Gary Edward Blevins, Vernon Ray and R-Rena Brock, Palmer Mullins, James L. Brock, Rae Ann Blevins Mitchem, Arthur Vincent, Jr., Birchel Ray, Scotty Dewayne, Phillip Lee, Leslie Renee, Joshua Caleb, and Joyce Blevins, April Marie Blevins Ferguson, Teddy Ray Arthur Clinton and Nannie Rena Ruby Jane Gladys Blevins, Carolyn Caldwell Lawson, Gary, Robert and Willard, Cheryl Lynn, and Becky Jane Caldwell, Ardith Bernice Caldwell Brock, James Edward, Jr., Justin Aaron, Brandon Joseph, Hannah Marie, and Trinity Jared Blevins, twenty-nine great grandchildren and a host of other relatives, neighbors and friends. Services were held Thursday at the Blevins Holiness Church at Kettle Island with Reverend Farmer Saylor, Reverend Tony Caldwell, and Reverend Wayne Lawson. Burial followed in the Blevins Family Cemetery at Kettle Island. Pallbearers were his grandsons. The Arnett & Steele Funeral Home, Pineville was in charge of all arrangements.
