She was born on January 11, 1912 in Kettle Island to John Montgomery and Caroline Howard Lock. She was a retired social worker for the State of Kentucky, an elementary school teacher in the Bell County School System, was the Bell County Court Clerk for three terms, served on the board of directors for the Bell County Senior Citizens Center, a charter member for over fifty years of the Sunshine Homemakers Club, a proud member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, a past president of the Business and Professional Women’s Club and was a certified tree farmer for the State of Kentucky. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Marcus Edward Brock; step-mother, Sudie Lock; sisters, Mae Lefevers and Beulah Ruth Lock; brothers, Howard, Fred P., Lester K. and Earl Locke. Survivors include her children, Beth Floyd of Louisville, Carolyn Jarrett of Knoxville, TN, Sylvia Price of Pineville, Sharon Fletcher of Kettle Island, and Marcus Edward Brock, Jr. of Louisville; brother, Reed M. Lock of Spartanburg, SC; sister, Gertrude Gross of Middlesboro; and a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends. Services were at 12:00 noon Wednesday, April 6 at the Mill Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Ray Collett and Rev. Ron Howard. Entombment will be in the Green Hills Memorial Gardens in Middlesboro. Pallbearers were Nathan, John and Brian Floyd, Marcus Price, Charles and Jay Jarrett, Kevin Fletcher, Eddie III, Chet, Joey, Michael, David and Sam Brock. Honorary pallbearers are the members of the Mill Creek community. The family received friends after 5:30 PM Tuesday at the Mill Creek Baptist Church.
