He was born in Bell County on April 6, 1918 a son of the late Bentley and Chloe Sizemore Brock. He was a member of the Crockett Saylor Pentecostal Church and had been a coal miner for 46 years. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife, Bonnie Hatmaker Brock; daughter, Burna Lea Partin; brothers, Golden, Delbert, Bentley, Jr., Lester and Rev. Elmer Brock; sisters, Elva Lawson and Rosie Miller; brothers-in-law, Sam Miller, Bob Vick and James Hubbard, Jr.; and special nieces, Rosetta Lawson Caldwell and Joyce Brock Cox. Survivors include his wife, Malinda Baker Brock of Fields; son, Rad and Louise Brock of Fields; daughters, Dorothy Jean Shepard of Ligonier, IN and Anna Faye and Kenny Summers of Lake Alfred, FL; stepsons, Clifford Wayne and Joy Brock of Arjay and Jeffrey and Amy Brock of Kettle Island; stepdaughter, Angela and Rev. Ron Hensley of Arjay; brother, Homer and Ida Brock of Stoney Fork; sisters, Hazel Vick of LaPorte, IN, Lillie Mae Hubbard and Sudie Marie Penley both of Fort Wayne, IN; brother-in-law, Elmer Lawson of Fields; sisters-in-law, Chesney Brock and Christine Brock both of Arjay, Pat Brock and Kathy Brock both of Fort Wayne, IN; 12 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, 5 great-great- grandchildren, 9 step-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Services were at 1:00 PM Saturday, September 23 at the Crockett Saylor Pentecostal Church with Rev. Ronnie Hoskins, Rev. Ron Hensley, Rev. Cheyenne Brock and Deacon Richard Asher officiating. Burial followed in the Brummett Cemetery at Simms Fork. Pallbearers were his grandsons, stepsons and nephews. Honorary pallbearers were Dr. Jaishankar Devapiran, nephew, David Brock, Pineville Home Health and Hospice of the Blue Grass-Mountain Heritage. The family received friends Thursday from 6 until 9 pm at the Arnett & Steele Funeral Home, Pineville and after 10 PM Thursday and all day Friday until funeral hour Saturday at the Crockett Saylor Pentecostal Church at Fields.
