He was born and reared in Lee County, Virginia, coming to Middlesboro about twelve years ago to make his home. He was a retired farmer and widely known in this area. He was married to the late Mrs. Florence Brooks Dean, who preceded him in death a few years ago. He is survived by two sons, Alva Dean of Morristown, Tennessee and Millard Dean of Tazewell, Tennessee. He is also survived by five daughters, Mrs. Mossie Buchanan, Mrs. Katie Akers and Mrs. Pearlie Akers, all of Pineville, and Mrs. Laura Chadwell and Miss Nannie Dean of Middlesboro. The funeral will be conducted at the East Cumberland Avenue Baptist Church of which he was a member, tomorrow morning at 9 o'clock, therefore making the regular Sunday School to begin at 10 o'clock, instead of 9:45. The Rev. Billy Moyers and the Rev. Wint Bolton will have charge of the service. There will also be a 10 o'clock service at the Engle Chapel, Ewing, Virginia.
