He was born June 12, 1914, in Scott County, Tenn., a son of the late Jasper Jeffers Jr. and Cansada Brown Jeffers. He had worked in logging and lumber most of his life. He was a long time member of Hosman Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, James, Leamon, and Emer Jeffers; a son, Jimmy Dale; daughter, Roma Jean; two grandchildren; one great-grandchild and four sons-in-law. Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Myrtle Lawson Jeffers; children, Dorothy Merritt Gray, Lucille Wilder, Elmer Jeffers and wife Beulah, Carletta Maltby and husband James, Brenda Dawson and husband Curtis, Jerry Wayne Jeffers and wife Geraldine, and Carlene Edens; 22 grandchildren, 45 great-grandchildren, and seven great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Roy Jeffers and wife, Daisy; two sisters, Opal Daniel, Nola Pursifull and husband Darrell; and a host of other relatives and friends. Services were conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday at Arnett & Steele Funeral Home with the Revs. Anthony Lovett and Bill Wolfe presiding. Burial was in Green Hills Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers were his grandsons, and honorary pallbearers were members of Hosman Baptist Church and his neighbors.
