LAWSON Services were conducted in loving memory of Mattie E. Lawson, a resident of Kettle Island, Kentucky who passed away Friday, July 23, 2004 at the Pineville Community Hospital. She was born March 8, 1917 in Bell Co., Kentucky, the daughter of the late Lee Elliott and Mary Elizabeth Osborne Elliott. She was a member of the Mill Creek Baptist Church. Other than her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Dillard Lawson, 1 son, James Lawson, sisters, Bertha Lasley, Sadie Howell, Sudie Lasley, Margie Collett, Pauline Elliott, Brothers, Simon Elliott and Delbert Elliott, Grandchildren, Lana Duncan and Christopher Lawson. At the time of her death she was 87 years old. She is survived by the following members of her family: Children: Irvin and Phronia Lawson of Morristown, TN., Betty and Frank Duncan of Martinsville, IN., Elizabeth Ann Leath of Lexington, Kentucky, Nick W. and Virgina Diana Lawson of Smithgroove, Kentucky, Harold and Theresa Lawson of Louisville, Kentucky, and Henry Lawson of Kettle Island, Kentucky; 1 brother, Eugene Elliott or Rochester, Michigan; 15 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services for Mrs. Mattie Lawson were held on Tuesday July 27, 2004 at the Creech-Durham Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ronald Howard and Russell Murphy. Music was provided by Irving Gibson and Russell Murphy. Burial followed in the Meadow Branch Cemetery at Kettle Island, Kentucky. Pallbearers were Phillip and John Duncan, Tommy D. Johnson, Johnathan Lawson, Michael Lawson, Gary Adkins, Rob Musick and Billy Gardene. Visitation was Sunday 6-9 and Monday 9AM to 9PM at the Creech-Durham Funeral Home of Pineville, Kentucky.
