He was born in Balkan on June 14, 1938 to Rufus Mills, Sr. and Lillie Owens Mills. He believed in the Pentecostal Faith and was a member of the Mathel Pentecostal Holiness Church of Calloway. He had been employed at National Coil in Harlan for 10 years. He retired from woodworking in 2000. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his daughter, Susan Renee Mills Taylor. Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Edna Mae Huckleby Mills, son and daughter-in-law, Russell and Melanie Mills; grandchildren, Shane, Corey and Braden Mills and Susan’s children, Jerrid and Jessica Taylor; sisters and brothers-in-law, Helen and Phillip Martin and Elizabeth and Elmer Fuson, a special friend, Orville Hobbs and a host of other family and friends. Services were Tuesday at the Arnett & Steele Funeral Home with Rev. Eli Craig, Rev. David Rice, Rev. Joe Ellis and Rev. Jacki Jaggers. Music was by Larry and Debbie Green and Adrienne Mason. Burial was in the Lewis Cemetery at Calloway. Pallbearers were James Rice, John Brock, Sr., Shawn Fuson, Michael Fuson, Terry Ramsey, Wayne Ramsey, James Perry, Wes Mason, J.C. Craig, Ronnie Dunn, Duron Saylor and Tommy Huckleby. Honorary pallbearers were Dr. George Day, Dr. George Krisle, Walter Dunn, Al Webb, Art Shell, Ed Houston, Max Gilbert and Jesse Bishop. Arnett & Steele Funeral Home, Pineville, was honored to serve the Mills Family.
