The Sun-Courier, Thursday, March 23, 1989 Florida Webb Edmondson Florida Webb Edmondson, age 88, a resident of (Wallsend) Pineville, KY., died Monday, March 20, 1989 at the Pineville Community Hospital. She was born February 1, 1901 in Bell County, KY., the daughter of the late Ellic and Phoebe Centers Webb. She was joined in holy matrimony December 20, 1920 in Bell County, KY., to John Harve Edmondson, son of William and Mary Lucy Bowling Edmondson. She believed in the Holiness Faith. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Harve Edmondson in 1959, seven children, Dora Lee Wilder, Nora, Louise, John, Jr., Maggie, Phoebe and Christine Edmondson; four brothers, Isom, Jim, Jason and Ike Webb; three sisters, Ida Branson, Mary Alford, and Martha Collins. She is survived by five sons, James Edmondson, Perry Edmondson and Franklin Lee Edmondson, all of (Wallsend) Pineville, KY., Ike Edmondson, Tinsley, KY., three daughters, Mrs. Leora Alford, Pineville, KY., Mrs. Addie Mae Patterson, Barbourville, KY., and Mrs. Mildred Edmondson, Massachusetts; 39 grandchildren, 47 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. She was the daughter of the late William Ogan and Minnie Shelton Ogan, born to them November 14, 1909, in Bell Co., KY. Mrs. Elliott was a member of the West Pineville Baptist Church. In 1928, she united in marriage with John Elliott and to this union two sons were born. Her husband, John Elliott, one son, one brother, Willis Ogan, and one sister, Ethel Hembree, preceded her in death. Mrs. Elliott is survived by: one son, Jack Douglas Elliott, Fairfield, CA: one sister, Rosa Valentine, Pineville; and two grandchildren, Susan Elaine Broughton, Barbourville, and John Gregory Elliott, Fairfield, CA. Medical Center, Knoxville, Tennessee. He was born October 4, 1922 in Pineville, Ky., the son of the late Sam ELLIS and Jane JONES ELLIS. He was an elder in the First Christian Church of Oak Ridge, Tennessee, and a former member of the First Christian Church, Pineville, where he was an active leader. He was a WW II veteran serving with the U.S. Navy in the Pacific Theatre where he received: American Defense Medal (one star), American Area Campaign Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal (eight stars) Good Conduct Medal, World War II Victory Medal, Presidential Unit Citation (one star). He was also a graduate of Union College, class of 1949. He was a retired health physicist with the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (formerly AEC), Washington, D.C. He held offices in the Health Physics Society, Toastmaster's Club and the Ruritan Club. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Annabel DEAN ELLIS; one son, Major Larry Dean ELLIS, Grafton, Va.; one daughter, Mrs. Susan ELLIS HANCE, Lake Wylie, S.C.; four grandchildren; four brothers, Sam ELLIS, Lenoir City, TN, Ralph ELLIS, Ypsilanti, Mich., and Fred ELLIS, Constantine, Mich.; three sisters, Mrs. Lena ELLIS and Mrs. Cleo JACKSON, both of Ypsilanti, Mich., and Mrs. Mickey TERRY, Belleville, Mich.; 24 nieces and nephews. Luther Evans, Jr., 64 Luther Evans Jr., 64 of Wapakoneta (Ohio) formerly of Pineville, KY., died at 5:03 pm Sunday, Oct. 8, 1989, in St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima. He was born June 18, 1925, in Pineville, KY, the son of Luther and Sarah Elizabeth (Partin) Evans, Sr. On Feb. 27, 1951, he married Aileen Hooker who died Feb. 8, 1985. Mr. Evans is survived by one son, Steve D. Evans, of Wapakoneta; 3 grandchildren; and 3 sisters, Beulah Evans of Effingham, ILL., Dorothy Bair of Danville, KY, and Mildred Steele of Wapakoneta. Mr. Evans was employed as a carpenter with Bowman Brothers Construction Co., in Lima, and served with the United States Army during World War II.
