He was joined in holy matrimony December 21, 1940 at Beverly, KY., to Miss Bessie Lawson, daughter of Lewis and Martha Meredith Lawson of Beverly, KY. He was a retired coal miner and a member of the Strait Creek Penecostal Church. He was preceded in death by his father in 1959 and his mother in 1972. She was preceded in death by her mother and father, one brother, John Burke and one sister, Mrs. Viola Howard. She is survived by: her husband, Charlie Jones, Arjay, KY; two sons, Leroy Johnson and Benny Ray Johnson, both of Zion, IL; three sisters, Mrs. Anna Mae Saylor, Toledo, OH., Mrs. Elizabeth Shackles, Ft. Wayne, IN., Mrs. Lydia Johnson, Harlan, KY; six grandchildren, Angela Senter, Melanie Johnson, and Tony Johnson, all of Zion, IL., Patricia Renee Johnson, Mike Johnson, and Donald Johnson, all of Harlan, KY; one great grandchild, Donald Johnson, Jr., Harlan, KY. Services for Mrs. Jones were at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 10, 1988 at the Durham Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Lee Bailey. Burial followed in Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Middlesboro, KY. She was a former Sunday school Teacher and a member of the Riverside Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her father, Elige Smallwood; her mother , Lucy Smallwood; her husband: Harve Jones; and her daughter Ellen Jackson. She is survived by : six children: Cecil Jones, Mrs. Opal Jackson, Mrs. Christine Miracle, Earl Jones and Denver Jones, all of Four Mile; three brothers: Shelby Smallwood, Flat Lick, Ky., Lee Smallwood, Dayton, Ohio; Ronnie Smallwood, Big Stone Gap, Va.,; one sister, Mrs. Laura Smith, Flat Lick, Ky.; 27 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild. Services for Mrs. Jones will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, January 28, 1988 at the Durham Funeral Home Chapel with Revs. Carl Gallion and Hurley Phillips. The Sun-Courier, Thursday, December 10, 1987 Victor Jordan Victor Jordan, 65, a life long resident of Jensen, KY., passed away Tuesday, December 1, 1987 at Middlesboro, Appalachian Hospital. He was born January 2, 1922 in Bell County, KY., the son of the late Cecil Jordan and Lucy Elliott Jordan. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the Army for which he received the American Theatre Ribbon and the American Defense Service Medal with one Bronze Star. He believed in the holiness faith. He is survived by: four sons, Ronald Jordan, Carl Jordan, Monty Jordan and Paul Jordan, all of Pineville; eight daughters, Mrs. Phyllis Jean Tyler, Nashville, TN; Mrs. Ruth Nix, Decatur, GA; Ms. Lois Jordan, Miss Joyce Jordan, Mrs. Linda Todd, Mrs. Anna Marie Caldwell, Miss Debra Jordan and Mrs. Vickie Martin, all of Pineville; 29 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. Services for Mr. Jordan were at 2 p.m. Friday, December 4, 1987 at the Durham Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Grant Hamlin. Military graveside committal was at Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Middlesboro, KY. His grandsons and members of the military served as pallbearers. The honorary pallbearers included all three shifts of the First Floor Nursing Staff at Middlesboro Hospital and Charles Dean, Clinton Elliott, Thomas Elliott and Pearl Ray LaFevers.
