William A. “Bill” Robbins, Sr., 75, of Pineville, passed away on Tuesday, September 2, 2003 at the Pineville Community Hospital. He was born in Waisoto on October 2, 1927 son of the late Rev. Gale W. and Ann Pope Robbins. He was of the Baptist Faith. He retired from General Motor Division, was a retired member of UAW Local 693 Pontiac and had been chief negotiator for the UAW for 15 years. He was a Kentucky Colonel, belonged to the Wallins Creek Masonic Lodge F & AM #666. He was a member of the Appalachian Foothills Fire Historical Society, charter member and the first historian for the Bell County Fire Department. Robbins was a former member of the Pineville City Council for several years. He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict and was a sergeant. He was preceded in death by a sister, Juanita Miracle and brother, James Robbins. Survivors include his son, William A. Robbins, Jr., daughter-in-law Sherry Robbins of Pineville, brothers and sisters, Annette and Fred Miracle of Harrogate, Gladys E. Hobbs Hopkins of Pineville, Lola Campbell of Harrogate and Theo Carver of Hulen, Robert Robbins of Harrogate and Rev. Charles E. and Cletta Robbins of Harrogate, sister-in-law, Mrs. James C. (Isabelle) Robbins, someone whom he loved like a brother and family, Dr. E.H. and Sherwin Rader and Celena, Tasia and Jason; aunts, Lola Wells of Cincinnati and Delores Mae Carr of Knoxville, special nephews, Gale Robbins and Jimmy Meiners and a host of nieces, nephews and many friends. Services were Friday at the First Baptist Church, Pineville with Rev. Albert Hughes, Rev. Alonzo Miracle, Rev. Charles E. Robbins and Dr. Michael Lee. Music will be by Jimmy Jackson, Dickie Siler, Jackie May and Brian Robbins. Burial will be in the Green Hills Memorial Gardens, Middlesboro. Military Honors were provided by the Dewey Guy Post 14. Pallbearers were the Firefighters of the Tr-State Area, Honorary pallbearers were George H. Reese, III, Judge Bob Costanzo, Joan Asher Cawood, Bruce Bennett, Fred Bishop, Bob McIntosh, Dudley Hilton, Greg Wilson, Bobby Valentine, Jr., Bobby Valentine, Sr., John Slusher, Felix Robinette, Darrell Bailey, Marvin Bingham, Jerry Garland, Scott Madon, Lee Warren, Jr., Steve Ausmus, Bill Rader, Jimmy W. Young, Benis “Red” Venable, Evertt Watson, Andy Williams, Nick Captain, members of the Bell County Sheriff’s Department, Bell County EMS, KY Firefighters Association Executive Board and all members of Emergency Services in Kentucky. Masonic Service will be at 7:00 PM Thursday by the Wallins Creek Masonic Lodge. Arnett & Steele Funeral Home was honored to serve the Robbins Family.
