He was born in Pineville on December 18, 1914 a son of the late Roeland T. Walden and Birdella Sewell Walden Dixon. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Pineville. He was a graduate of Pineville High School and attended Eastern Kentucky University. He earned his funeral director and embalming degree from Kentucky School of Mortuary Science of Louisville. Mr. Walden had been a partner of the Arnett & Steele Funeral Home until his retirement in 1984, but remained associated with the Arnett & Steele Funeral Home until his death. He had served in the United States Army Air Corps during World War II training B-17 pilots. He had been a Pineville City Councilman and had belonged to the Kiwanis Club of Pineville. He was a 50 year member of the Bell Masonic Lodge #691 F&AM and belonged to the Funeral Director’s Association of Kentucky. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters, Lillian LeQuire and Opaline Burkhart and brother, Clayton Walden. Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Annette Pennington Walden, a very special friend, Clarence “Peanut” Peace and a host of loving nieces, nephews, sisters-in-law, brother-in-law and friends. Services were Monday at the Arnett & Steele Funeral Home with Rev. Charles F. Jones, Rev. Rondald Howard and Mr. J.C. Helton, Music was by Larry and Karen Blondell. Burial was in the Pineville Memorial Cemetery, Pineville. Pallbearers were Michael Roan, Robert Roan, Jeff Helton, Jimbo Helton, Joe Hudson, John Crosier and Christian Sweet. Honorary pallbearers were members of the Funeral Profession. Memorial contributions are suggested to the First Baptist Church of Pineville, 405 Kentucky Ave., Pineville, KY 40977. Arnett & Steele Funeral Home, Pineville, was honored to serve the Walden Family.
