The Sun-Courier, Thursday, June 22, 1989 Oscar Herbert ASHER, 63, died Monday, June 19, 1989, at Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center. He was a veteran of World War II, an elder of the Church of Jesus Christ of Later Day Saints, Knoxville Stake, and Stake missionary. He was preceded in death by his parents, Sam and Mattie (MARTIN) ASHER; two sisters and one brother. Survivors include his wife, Mildred RIGGS ASHER, Arjay; son and daughter-in-law, Darryl Herbert and Melissa Gail (BARGO) ASHER, Tinsley, Ky.; daughter and sons-in-law, Linda Louise (ASHER) BROWN, Arjay, Brenda Gail ASHER, San Bernardino, Calif., Darlene Cleo ASHER and Kenneth “Bo” ELLIS, Pineville; one brother, Sam Ray ASHER, Duff, Tenn.; one sister, Virginia WILLIAMSON, Duff, Tenn.; two grandsons, Casey Patrick BROWN, Arjay, and Kenneth ELLIS Jr., Pineville; and a host of other family and friends to mourn his passing. Services were at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Reece Valley Chapel. Burial was in Campbell Memorial Gardens with Presidents Carl WALTER, Lynn CHUMLEY and Wayne ENGLAND officiating. Music was by Mavis GIBSON and Lorna WILLIAMS. Dedication of the grave was by Elder Fred ROARK. Pallbearers were Elder Carl SHIPLEY, Elder Donnie RIGGS, Elder Charlie RIGGS and Elder Don CENTERS. Reece Valley Chapel Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
