Alka Robinson Bailey, 95 11/28

    Newport News, Va. - Alka Robinson Bailey, 95, passed away 
Monday, Nov. 26, 2001, at Riverside Regional Medical Center, Newport 
News, Va. She was born April 25, 1906, in Lee County, Va., to 
Benjamin H. and Hattie Weston Robinson. She had been a Virginia 
peninsula resident since 1961. She was a loving mother, grandmother, 
great-grandmother and a very special neighbor and friend, She made 
her home with her daughter, Joann B. Taylor, at 48 Beaconsdale Lane,
Newport News, Va. She was a member of Marble Hill Methodist Church 
of Ewing, Va.,, and later moved her membership to First United 
Methodist Church in Newport News. She was a charter member of the 
Eastern Star, Cumberland Chapter 170, Rose Hill, Va., and had worked 
for JC Penney for 15 years. She was preceded in death by her 
parents; her husband, William J. Bryan; three sisters and one 
brother.

   Survivors include her daughter, Joann B. Taylor, of Newport News;
one grandson, John D. Robertson Jr., and his wife, Nancy; and two 
great-grandsons, Sean Michael Robertson and Brian Leslie Robertson, 
all of Portsmouth, Va.; and several nieces and nephews. A graveside 
service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at Peninsula Memorial Park, 
Newport News, with the Rev. John LeGault officiating. Visitation is 
from 7-8 p.m. today at W.J. Smith & Son Funeral Home, Newport News,
