He was born March 31, 1912 in Carter County, Ky., the son of the late Thomas Franklin BAKER. He was a member of Wasioto Baptist Church and Carpenters Union Local 2132. He was a master carpenter. He was preceded in death by his parents and one daughter Joyce BAKER, five brothers, Earl, Charles, Herbert, Robert and Mansford, and one sister, Lillian BAKER. Survivors include his wife, Hattie PARTIN BAKER; one son, Allen BAKER, Campton, Ky.; one daughter, Billie Jean KNUCKLES of Pineville; five brothers, Jack BAKER, Olive Hill, Ky., Nick BAKER, Lexington, N.C., Hoover BAKER, Mansfield, Ohio, Harlan BAKER, New Albany, Miss., and Tom Jr., Pine Bluff, Ark.; six sisters, Wilma DIXON, Ashland, Ky., Garnett SCHERER, Ironton, Ohio, Inez ROUTT, Columbus, Ohio, Lillian APPLEGATE, Grayson, Ky., Pauline PHILLIPS, Mansfield, Ohio and Betty JONES, Columbus, Ohio; six grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews. Services were conducted Sunday, October 7, 1990 at the Arnett & Steele Funeral Chapel with Rev. Robey WALTERS officiating. Music was provided by Lowell and Roberta TURNER. Burial was in the Pineville Memorial Cemetery. Grandson and nephews served as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers were friends and associates. Arnett & Steele Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
