She was born October 27, 1900 in Laurel County, KY., the daughter of the late Charlie Roop and Elizabeth Patterson Roop. She was joined in holy matrimony February 28, 1929 in Bell County, KY., to Boad Baker, son of Grant and Nancy Grubbs Baker. She was a member of the Walker Baptist Church, Walker, KY. She was preceded in death by mother and father, her husband, Boad Baker in 1973 and one son, William “Billy” Melvin Baker in 1969. She is survived by nine children, Mrs. Elsie Bailey, Mrs. Ruby Goodin and James Baker, all of Arjay, KY., Guy Carpenter, Waukegan, IL., Mrs. Pauline Warren, Flat Lick, KY., Mrs. Thelma Webb, Mundelein, IL., Mrs. Lucy Baker, Dallas, TX., Mrs. Agnes Alons, Las Cruces, NM., and Charlie Baker, Walker, KY.; one brother, Curlis Roop, Richmond, KY.; two sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth Jaynes, Walker, KY., and Mrs. Myrtle Cates, Richmond, KY.; 34 grandchildren and 37 great grandchildren. Services were at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 19 at the Durham Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Danny Robbins. Burial followed in Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Middlesboro, KY. Her grandsons served as pallbearers. Durham Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
