He was born September 22, 1908 in Bell County, Ky., the son of the late W. M. BAKER and Lucy COLLET BAKER. He was a retired coal miner, a veteran of World War II, was retired form the Columbus, Ohio plant of Rockwell International. He was a member of the House of Prayer Tabernacle. He is survived by five sons, Leon BAKER, Indianapolis, Ind., Howard BAKER, Largo, Fla., Virgil BAKER, Claude BAKER and Hubert BAKER, all of Calvin, Ky.; four daughters, Mrs. Thelma HUGHES and Mrs. Virgie BELL, both of Pineville, Ky., Mrs. Gloria TAMPLIN, Corpus Christi, Texas, Miss Ethel BAKER who is deceased; two brothers, T.J. BAKER and Matthew BAKER, both of Indianapolis, Ind.; two sisters, Mrs. Nora SIZEMORE, Pineville, Ky., and Mrs. Myrtle SPELLMAN, Charleston, S. C.; twenty-one grandchildren; seventeen great grandchildren. Services were at 3 p.m. Wednesday, November 30, 1988 at the Laurel Hill Penecostal Church with Revs. Wayne GRACE and Donald MESSER. Burial followed in the Pinelawn Memorial Cemetery, (Laurel Hill) Pineville, Ky. Music was provided by the Called Out Singers form the Community Penecostal Church. The pallbearers who served were his six grandsons.Durham Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
