SILLIS "BABE" BROCK

     Sillis "Babe" Brock a former coal miner of Pineville, 
Kentucky, passed away Saturday, May 19, 2001 at Pineville 
Community Hospital.  He was 79.
    Funeral service for Mr. Brock was Wednesday, May 23, 2001 
at Bell County Memorial Chapel, Pineville, Kentucky with Rev. 
Charles Robbins and Rev. Hiram Mason officiating.
    Music was by Angela Hoskins, Ricky Brock and Shane Funson.
    Burial was in Pinelawn Memorial Gardens, East Pineville, 
Kentucky with his grandsons as pallbearers.
    Honorary pallbearer was Arthur Jones.
    In addition to his parents, Andrew and Millie Pope Brock, 
he was preceded in death by a son, Sillis Brock, Jr., grandsons, 
Jim Anthony Brock, Harold Brock, Jr., and P.T. Funson.
    Sillis "Babe" Brock was born September 16, 1921 at Blue Ridge, 
Kentucky.  He had been a coal miner and a member of Salem #2 
Baptist Church.
    Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 62 years, Hailey 
Collett Brock; children:  Harold Brock, Orville Brock, Jimmy 
Brock, Jackie Brock, Donnie Brock, Ricky Brock, Wanda Funson, 
Helen Roper, Bonnie Napier, Jewell Miller, Norma Gray and 
Marilyn Allen all of Pineville, KY and Gary Brock of Ohio; 
28 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and brothers and 
sisters, Gillie "Bud" Brock, Andrew Brock, Jr., Gene Brock, 
Edward Brock, George Brock, Ada Head and Ann Dorton and a 
host of nieces and nephews.
    Arnett & Steele Funeral Home, Pineville, Kentucky was 
in charge of arrangements.
