Roscoe R. Denny, 85 12/5/2001

    MIDDLESBORO - Roscoe R. Denny, 85, passed away Sunday, Dec. 2, 
2001, at the University of Tennessee Medical Center, Knoxville, 
Tenn. He was born May 4, 1917, at Colmar, a son of the late Joe and 
Gertrude Denny. He was a member of Old Yellow Creek Baptist Church, 
where he served as a deacon, choir director, and Sunday school 
teacher for many years. He also belonged to the Masonic Lodge, and 
was manager of Southern Mining Company of Colmar, and had retired 
from Pet Milk Company as manager. In addition to his parents, he was
preceded in death by his wife, Mollie Denny; sister, Mae Ingram; 
brothers, Doyle, William, Esco and Leonard Denny.

   Survivors include his daughter, Reba Standifer and her husband, 
Phillip, Middlesboro; son, Don Denny and his wife, Myrna, Bowling 
Green, Ky.; three grandchildren, Jeff Standifer, Mike Standifer and 
his wife, Sherry, Middlesboro, and Greg Denny, Atlanta, Ga.; 
great-grandchildren, Makenzie, Cody, Kayla, Kelsie, and Kristen 
Standifer, Middlesboro; sisters-in-law, Thelma Mays and Pauline Lee,
Middlesboro, Juanita Denny, Middlesboro, Annie Denny, Ohio; special 
friends, Linda Turner, Michelle and Brooke Jenkins, Middlesboro, and 
Denny Turner, Morristown, Tenn. Funeral services were to be 
conducted at 1 p.m. today at Shumate Funeral Home with the Revs. 
Casper "Tip" Moore and Greg Humpert presiding. Music was to be 
provided by Jane Cox. Burial was to be in Green Hills Memorial 
Gardens. Pallbearers were to be Doyle and Denny Halcomb, Greg Denny, 
Kenneth Lee, Larry Lee, Ron Mayes, Denny Turner, and Raymond Sweat. 
Honorary pallbearers will be Jeff Standifer, Mike Standifer, John 
Rowland, Harold Vanbever, Mason Peace, the deacons of Old Yellow 
Creek Baptist Church, Charles Rector and Jesse Hill. Shumate Funeral
Home was in charge of arrangements.
