The family lived in Bourbon County until about 1825 when they moved to Montgomery Co., Kentucky. After Philip’s death in 1834, his wife Margaret lived in Nicholas Co., Kentucky until about 1858 when she went to live with her children in Boone and Montgomery Counties, Indiana. The Bible of Margaret Cox was handed down to her daughter Amanda Cox Chrisman, then to her daughter Nancy Chrisman Weliever, to her daughter Ethel Fern, then to her son Charles and then to Phyllis Paetzmann in whose possession it remains. Mrs. Paetzmann notes when she received the Bible it was full of mementos-brown, dried flowers, an old handmade valentine, a political ribbon, some verses cut from the newspaper, etc. These had to be removed since the pages were being affected. The old leather cover is stained dark from many hands and the pages are fragile and faded. Transcribed by Connie Graves from a Xerox copy, with notations from Phyllis Paetzmann.
