Surname: Duncan, Graves, Furnish, Kennedy Kentucky: A History of the State, Battle, Perrin, & Kniffin, 7th ed., 1887, Boone Co. EDWIN WILLIAM DUNCAN, M. D., a practicing physician of Walton, Ky., was born in Boone County, Ky., December 30, 1860, and is the second of a family of four children born to James W. and Louann (Graves) Duncan. He was reared on a farm and received a collegiate education at Georgetown. James W. Duncan, a farmer, was elected circuit court clerk in 1874, served until 1880, and our subject was deputy clerk under him. Edwin W. began the study of medicine in 1882 under Dr. Joseph G. Furnish, of Burlington, Ky., and attended the medical lectures of the Ohio Medical College, at Cincinnati, where he graduated in 1885, March 6. He settled at Belleview, Ky., but remained there only six months, and then went to Walton, Ky., where he still continues to practice. Dr. Duncan is a member of the Baptist Church; politically he is a Democrat. June 15, 1887, he married Miss Lizzie Jane Kennedy, of near Walton, Ky.
