FRANK H. SMITH was born in Madison County, Va., May 12, 1822. He is the second of seven 

children born to Jeremiah and Mary (Eddings) Smith. Jeremiah Smith came to Kentucky in 

1830, and settled near where our subject now resides. He was a farmer all his life. 

Frank H. Smith was brought up on the farm, and received a common-school education. He 

settled in Boone County in about 1852, and has 118 acres of land. October 15, 1846, he 

was married to Miss Juritta E. Utz, a daughter of Albert and Annie (Hoffman) Utz, of 

Boone County. To this union six children has been born, viz: Mary A., Louisa F., Emma B., 

Richard O., William H. and an infant. Mr. and Mrs. Smith are members of the Lutheran Church. 

Mr. Smith is a member of the I.O.O.F.; politically he is a Democrat
