Surname: Walton, Holton, Riggs, Hathaway Kentucky: A History of the State, Battle, Perrin, & Kniffin, 7th ed., 1887, Boone Co. WILLIAM H. WALTON was born October 8, 1808. He is the fourth of twelve children born to Robert and Elizabeth (Holton) Walton, both of whom were natives of Virginia. They were early settlers in Bracken County, and moved to Boone County in 1827, where he lived and died. He was sheriff of Bracken County, and also Boone County. When he came to Boone County, in 1827, he bought 500 acres of land. He and his wife were members of the Christian Church. William H. Walton was brought up on the farm, and received a common-school education. He settled where he now resides in 1837, and has 116 acres of valuable land. In 1839 he was married to Malinda Riggs, a daughter of John and Dorcas (Hathaway) Riggs, of Boone County. To this union one child was born--Annie E. Mrs. W. H. Walton died August 13, 1840, and February 3, 1842, he married Parmelia Riggs, a sister of his first wife. To this union five children were born, viz: Malinda, James H., William E., Mary E. and John R. The two latter are dead. Mr. and Mrs. Walton are members of the Christian Church. Politically he is a Democrat.
