SCOTT--DAUGHTER OF ALFRED EDWIN CHAMBERS I AND AMANDA SANDFORD "Mary C. Haas, daughter of Rev. Alford Chambers, was born August 16, 1841. She was christened in childhood and was a member of the Methodist church from childhood until death. She was married to Mr. Scott in 1858. By this union God blessed the home with four children. After Mr. Scott's death sister Mary Scott lived a widow for a number of years. In 1892 she was married to Mr. Haas, of Ohio, where she moved and lived until her last illness. She died at her daughter's, Mrs. Belle Weigler, in Cleveland, Ohio. She spent most of her life in Boone county, Kentucky, was a member of the Methodist church at Petersburg, Kentucky, until she and her family moved to Ohio. She as a woman of fine sense, sterling qualities, a loving mother and had many friends. She was conscious up to the very last moments. Having her children gathered around, her she prayed for them and exhorted them all to live a religious life. She leaves two sons and two daughters by her last husband, Mr. Haas, to mourn her loss. Her remains were shipped to Boone county, Kentucky, to her brother's Mr. Chambers, where the funeral services were conducted by the writer, assisted by Bro. Harris, pastor of the Petersburg M. E.Church. Mrs. Viola Grant and daughter, Miss Grace, and Mr. Walton and son, sang several very sweet songs at the funeral. After the services at the house, she was laid away in the old family burying ground to await the resurrection morn, So spirit, go and take thy flight Leave this dull mortal here And soar to worlds of bliss and light And dwell eternal there T.
