Marcia Hardesty MarciaH@aol.com BENJAMIN HARDESTY BIBLE contributed by Betty Ann Bowles Pleasureville, KY Benjamin HARDESTY brought his family to Kentucky from Calvert Co. Maryland about 1784. He died in Bourbon Co. KY, 1818 leaving 11 children. One of his children, Benjamin II was born about 1776 VA and married Nancy SAGESER of Fayette Co. KY. They, too, had a large family - 13 in all. The following Bible records were taken from the Bible which originally belonged to their son, Benjamin III (1825-1900), who married Matilda ROBINSON, daughter of Squire C. ROBINSON and Matilda BRYANT. Most of Benjamin and Matilda HARDESTY's descendants lived in Henry Co. KY. HARDESTY was born Aug the 7th 1853 Harvenia HARDESTY was born March 3, 1855 James HARDESTY was born Feb 13, 1857 Kurtz HARDESTY was born March 28, 1860 Curley HARDESTY was born Nov. 24, 1862 Matny Mogen HARDESTY was born Aug 24, 1864 Robert Lee HARDESTY was born Aug 7, 1867 Benjamin HARDESTY was born Sept 6, 1869 DEATHS Virginia Ann HARDESTY died April 30, 1855 Thomas F. HARDESTY died May 10, 1855 Curley HARDESTY died Jan. 27, 1865 Matilda HARDISTY, Ben HARDESTY's wife, died Feb. 21, 1871 Matida HARDISTY, the wife of Ben HARDESTER, was born Oct. 23, 1830 Benjamin F. HARDESTY was born May 26, 1825, died Sept. 7, 1900 Robert Thorton JOHNSON died Aug. 24 1923 Mattie May JOHNSON died Aug. 31 1936 The above Bible was published in 1848 by the American Bible Society, New York. The bible is owned by Benjamin HARDESTY's grandaughter, Mrs. Horace C. DUNAVENT of Shelbyville, KY. Sometimes the name was HARDESTER, HARDISTY, and HARDESTY. Mrs. DUNVANT's mother was Mattie May (recorded in Bible as Matny Mogen). Kurtz HARDESTY was known as "Curt" HARDESTY.
