Like the majority of pioneer boys, he had to work hard, early and late, and received such advantages as only that primitive time afforded. Accepting farming as his vocation through life, lie has steadily followed it, and by his untiring exertions; has secured a good home and a farm of 263 acres. In this he has been loyally aided by his wife, who was formerly Miss Martha K., daughter of Benjamin. and Jemima (Starr) Nicholson. Mr. and Mrs. Callaway are among Washington County's best people, and are the parents of this family: James, Joseph, Jemima (deceased), Thornton, Frankie, Lewis, H G., Alice (deceased) and Patrick.
