Ryan in Common Pleas Court on a charge of being a fugitive from Justice. Stevens surrendered to Sheriff Dan Tehan on a bench warrant issued March 13, 1952, in Pike County, KY, Circuit Court, which said he is under indictment for child desertion. The charge, Tehan said, was based on the complaint of the officer's former wife, Martha Stevens, Big Branch, KY. Louis Ginocchio, attorney for Stevens, told Judge Ryan, in asking for a continuance, that except for the wording on the warrant, his only information regarding the case was that Stevens was divorced several years ago.
