CATLETTSBURG:Charles Shelby Rankin, 76, Rt.2, Catlettsburg, died at 
7:.50 p.m. Friday in Kings Daughter Hospital following an extended illness.
Mr. Rankin was born May 18, 1901, in Lawrence County, a son of the late 
John and Julia Johnson Rankin. He was a retired owner of the Rankin Grocery 
at Burnaugh and attended Burnaugh Missionary Baptist Church.

Surviving are his wife Nora Elizabeth Black(White) Rankin; 
two sons Charles D. and Jerry Jim(Michael) Rankin both of Catlettsburg; 
four daughters, Mrs. Connie Hale of Camden, S. C., Mrs. Jack Burgess of 
Victoria, Tex., Mrs. John Patton of Rt. 2 Catlettsburg, Mrs. Hugh Ward 
of Ashland; a sister, Mrs. John Haven of Bethel, OH.; 15 grandchildren 
and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:30 pm - Sunday at the 
Kilgore & Collier Funeral Home in Catlettsburg by the Rev. Pete Miller.  
Burial will be in Rose Hill Burial Park.

The body is at the funeral home, where friends may call after 6 p.m. today.
In lieu of flowers, friends may make contributions to the Boyd County 
Cancer Society.

Corrections and notes:
Mr Rankins widow, Nora Elizabeth Rankin maiden name was White not Black 
as indicated in this record.
The surviving son refered to as Jerry Jim; in this obit is really 
named Jerry Michael Rankin

Charles Shelby Rankin was Born 18 May 1901 Died 26 August 1977.
