Marie G. Smith, 78, of 5016 Blackburn Ave., died Friday at her home.

Mrs. Smith was born Oct. 14, 1913, in Ashland, a daughter of the late Mason and 
Ola Alley Gallaher.  Her husband, Herbert Smith preceded her in death.

She was a member of the Crum Chapel.

Surviving are a son, Larry Smith of Ashland; five daughter, Eleanor Ward, Luana 
Thomas and Movita Wheatley, all of Lakeland, Fla., Geneva Alt of Tampa, Fla., 
and Gail Johnson of Ashland; two brothers, Benton Gallaher and Charles 
Gallaher, both of Ashland; a stepson, Duward Smith of Lakeview, Ohio; four 
sisters, Maude Gussler, Aileen Long and Jane Smith, all of Ashland, and Louise 
Rinehart of Baltimore, Md.; 27 grandchildren; and 32 great-grandchildren;

The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday at the Crum Chapel by the Rev. 
Bob Chaffin and the Rev. Bob Cassity.  Burial will be in Cripple Cemetery.

Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. today at the Miller Funeral Home in Ashland 
and an hour before the service Monday at church.
