Glen Franklin Boggs, an employee of the Pro-Con Corp. of Des Plaines, IL, at work on a maintenance contract at the number two refinery, was standing on the ground when the slag chunk fell 50 feet. He was a member of a crew working on a regenerator of the catalytic cracking unit. Other men were at work above pulling nozzles and apparently loosened the heavy fragment. The victim was pronounced dead on arrival at King's Daughters' Hospital, Ashland. The body was removed to the Young Funeral Home. Funeral rites will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday from the Christian Church, Willard, KY with Rev. Everett Sloan and Rev. Everett Kiger officiating. Interment will be made in Memorial Park Cemetery at Grayson, KY. Survivors include the widow, Mrs. Pearl McDavid Boggs, one daughter, Rita Kay Boggs, at home, the parents, John W. and Ethel Berry Boggs; two sisters, Mrs. Ercell Day, of Dayton, OH and Miss Mary Jane Boggs, at home; two grandmothers, Mrs. Esther Boggs, Ashland and Mrs. Sarah Jane Berry of Yatesville, KY. The body was removed from the funeral home to the home of the parents, Thursday.
