Elkins, Catlettsburg, after an illness of several years. He was born in Pike co., KY, a son of John and Cerilda Shortridge Elkins, resided at Fallsburg for 76 years. He was a member of Apperson Lodge 195 F & AM, the Odd Fellows of Louisa and the Fallsburg Methodist Church. He had resided with his son for a year. Surviving are the widow, Mrs. Mary Compton Elkins of Louisa; five sons, James and Robert Elkins of Catlettsburg, Dennie Elkins of Baltimore, Charles Elkins of Ashland and William Elkins of Louisa; four daughters, Mrs. Austin Riffe of West Van Lear, Mrs. Frank Short and Mrs. Paul Thompson of Louisa and Mrs. Harry Wideroe of Tampa, FL, one brother, Albert Elkins of Portsmouth, OH, one sister in law, Mrs. M. A. Elkins of Ashland, and 21 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held Monday at 1:30 p.m. at the Savage Memorial Methodist Church at Fallsburg and interment was made in the Elkins family cemetery at Fallsburg. The Rev. O. P. smith of Catlettsburg officiated. Apperson Lodge conducted graveside services.
