NEWSOME, Cornelius

Cornelius (Neal) Newsome, 65, retired Catlettsburg merchant, died Monday night 
at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Manford Barnette, 3310 Springhaven St., 
Catlettsburg, after a long illness. Mr. Newsome was born in Lawrence Co., KY, a 
son of the late George and Mary Ball Newsome and had resided in Boyd County for 
35 years. He was a member of the United Baptist Church. Surviving are one son, 
Billy Joe Newsome, U. S. Navy, 6 daughters, Mrs. Barnette and Mrs. Tom Rice both 
of Catlettsburg, Mrs. Estill Cumbo and Mrs. Tom Chapman both of South Charleston 
and Mrs. Joe Powers and Mrs. Kenneth Powers, both of South Solon, OH, and 1 
sister, Mrs. Nan Stewart, Ceredo, WV. Big Sandy News, Nov 8, 1946
