For and in consideration of the sum of one Hundred and forty dollars to me in 
hand paid, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged I have this day sold to 
J. A. Burton all my right title and interest in and to the Estate of Saml D. 
McGinnis Dec'd including the amount which may be due the heirs of said McGins 
[sic] at the death of his wife Margaret McGinnis my portion being one full 
share in accordance with the last will and testament of said S. D. McGinnis 
Dec'd and hereby authorize the said J. A. Burton to demand and recieve [sic] 
and reciept [sic] to the Ex'rs of Said S. D. McGinnis for any and all moneys 
which is or may be due me from said estate.  Hereby ratifying and confirming 
all of his acts and fully authorizing him to act as my attorney and signing my 
name if necessary to any receipts which may be required by said Ex'rs in 
settling said estate.
Given under my hand & seal this 21st day of July 1864.

I Jona. B. Nichols clerk of the Boyle County Court do certify that the 
foregoing instrument of writing was this day produced to me and acknowledged by 
H. McGinnis in due form of law, and upon the same is the required U. S. Revenue 
Stamp.  Whereupon the same hath been duly recorded.  Given under my hand this 
25th day of May 1865.
