Born Nov. 14, 1927, in Burgin, he was the son of the late Sue and Dan Bowman. He was an employee of Smith-Jackson Funeral Home and Danville Monument Co. He also was an Army veteran of the Korean War, member of Little Zion Baptist Church in Burgin, and a church trustee. He was a member of Benevolent Lodge 3. Survivors include his wife, Eliza "Tat" McCowan Bowman; five daughters, Marsha McCormack of Frankfort, Jacqueline Bowman, Vickie Mosley and Jackita L. Lancaster, all of Lexington, and Rene Smallwood of Danville; two sons, Steve Berry of Danville and Jack Antonio Bowman of Louisville; two sisters, Bertha Bowman and Beatrice Penman, both of Danville; a stepson, Gary Shannon of Lexington; two stepdaughters, Angela Parker of Louisville and Bonnie Blakey of Atlanta, Ga.; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Services will 1 p.m. Wednesday at Little Zion Baptist Church by Phillip Yates. Burial will be in Robinson Roe Cemetery, Burgin. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the church. Smith-Jackson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
