Carlyle Vernon "Bud" Barnard, 79, of Hudson Avenue will be 4 p.m. Thursday at First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) by the Revs. Lance Perry and Caroline Bloomfield. Burial will be in Bellevue Cemetery with military rites by American Legion Post 46. He died Friday at his home. Born Sept. 17, 1922, in Archie, Mo., he was the son of the late John W. and Maude E. Switzer Barnard. He had been a retired minister with First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) for 36 years. He was a member of the Lions Club, Optimist Club, Rotary Club and Scottish Rites. He was a Army veteran of World War II having served as a technical sergeant. He was the widower of Dolly L. Johnson Barnard. Survivors include a son, Greg Barnard of Danville; a daughter, Robin Barnard of Kansas City, Mo.; a sister, Gayla Cameron of Cass County, Mo.; a brother, Jimmy Barnard of Cass County; and two grandsons. Pallbearers will be Jerry Boyd, Billy Hargis, Patrick McClure, Rick Nallinger, Butch Pass and George Sexton. Visitation will be 3-4 p.m. Thursday at the church. Preston-Pruitt Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
