Chapman, 76, of Danville died Tuesday at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center. Born Dec. 8, 1926, in Clarmont, Ohio, he was the son of the late George A. and Florence Maddox Chapman. He was owner and operator of Chapman Plumbing and Heating Co. for 21 years and construction manager for Cardinal Industries in Columbus, Ohio, for 10 years. He was a Methodist, a Navy veteran of World War II, and a life member of American Legion since 1947. He spent 21 years with Williamsburg Township, Ohio, volunteer fire department and 16 years with Williamsburg zoning administration. Survivors include his wife, Garnetta F. Chapman; two sons, Gregory Chapman of Cincinnati and Eric Chapman of Williamsburg, Ohio; a daughter, Barbara Motko of Visalia, Calif.; three stepsons, Steve Morris of Danville, Billy D. Whittaker of Burgin and Jesse L. Whittaker of Versailles; a stepdaughter, Anita Hubbard of Parksville; two stepbrothers, Thomas Chapman of Amelia, Ohio, and Donald Chapman of Bethel, Ohio; a sister, Virginia Gardner of Williamsburg; and 12 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a stepson, Michael W. Morris. Services will be 11 a.m. Friday at Outreach Baptist Church, Alum Springs Road, Danville, by the Rev. Steve Owens. Burial will be in Buffalo Springs Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Harold Lester, Jesse Whittaker, James Hubbard, Timmy Whittaker, Jerry Harp and Greg Chapman. Honorary pallbearers will be Anita Hubbard, Teresa Maddox and Charles Whitlock. Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Thursday at Spurlin Funeral Home. Memorials may go to the church building fund. ______________________________
