Born Dec. 20, 1913, in Scott County, Tenn., she was a daughter of the late Horace and Abigail Chambers Litton. She was a homemaker and a member of First Church of God and the Retired Railway and Veterans Club. She was the widow of Arnold T. Lay and James L. Courtney. Survivors include four sons, Maynard Lay of Granville, Ohio, and James L. Lay and Gerald Lay, both of Lancaster, and Bill Lay of Danville; two daughters, Ruth Huffman of Danville and Carol Hasty of Lancaster; a brother, Horace Litton of Danville; two sisters, Gladiolous Laxton and Edna Newby, both of Danville; 16 grand- children; 35 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. Services will be 2 p.m. Monday at First Church of God. Burial will be in Danville Memorial Gardens. Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Saturday and 1-5 p.m. Sunday at Stith Funeral Home and after noon Monday at the church. Memorials may go to Heritage Hospice.
