Born Dec. 9, 1919, in Boyle County, he was the son of the late Preston and Elizabeth Mills Long. He was a retired sergeant with the U.S. Army and a veteran of World War II and the Korean War. He was a security guard for Owens Chevrolet. He belonged to the Salvation Army Church. He was the widower of Sara Ann Farmer Long. Survivors include a daughter, Patricia Ann Wenger of Fort Knox; a son, Jesse Preston Long of Junction City; four grandchildren and three great- grandchildren. Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Preston-Pruitt Funeral Home by Capt. Paul Gilliam. Burial will be in Camp Nelson National Cemetery.
