Lester Nash, 72, of Proctor Street died today at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center. Born Sept. 14, 1929, in Maceo, he was the son of the late Sidney C. and Louellen Barnet Nash. He was a Baptist minister for 47 years and had been pastor of several Baptist churches, including Junction City First Baptist Church. He also served as interim pastor at several churches after his retirement. He served on the executive board of the Southern Baptist Convention and the executive board of the Kentucky Baptist Convention. He attended Tennessee Temple Seminary. Survivors include his wife, Idella Jennings Nash; four daughters, Threasha Hendricks of Norfolk, Va., Deanna Whittamore of Estero, Fla., Gina Melton of Danville and Belinda J. Birdsey of Norfolk, Va.; a son, Jeffrey Nash of Somerset; three sisters, Kathrine Crawford and Virginia Miller, both of Owensboro, and Sidney Wedding of St. Louis, Mo.; a brother, Clarence Nash of Columbus, Ohio; eight grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter. Services will be 1 p.m. Monday at First Baptist Church. Visitation will be 3-7 p.m. Saturday at Stith Funeral Home and 2-5 p.m. Sunday at the church. Graveside services will be private.
