"Robbie" Stevens Sr., 77, of Perryville will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Wilder Funeral Home by the Rev. Jimmy Owens. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery with military rites by Battlefield American Legion Post 301. He died Sunday at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center. Born June 12, 1924, in Boyle County, he was the son of the late Bert and Vallie Sinkhorn Stevens. He was a retired security guard with Thom McAn and had served in the Army in World War II. He was a member of Perryville Baptist Church and Battlefield American Legion Post 301 where he had served as service officer. He also was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars 6935 in Harrodsburg. Stevens was instrumental in the formation of the Boyle County Fire Protection District and served as captain for Boyle County Engine Co. 2 in Perryville. He also was instrumental in bringing the WHAS Crusade for Children to Perryville and was a volunteer for many years. Survivors include his wife, Margaret Downs Stevens; two daughters, Kathy Bates of Danville and Mary Lisle of Louisville; a son, Robert Stevens Jr. of Perryville; and three grandchildren. Pallbearers are Robbie Stevens III, Scott and Ritchie Bates, Jackie Casey, Jason Stevens, and Tommy McManus. Honorary pallbearers are Dr. Mohammad Shahzad and Parker Hall.
