Born May 24, 1920, in Lincoln County, he was the son of the late John J. and Minerva Mason Sims. He was a retired welder, a member of Faith Temple Pentecostal Church of God, and an Army veteran of World War II. Survivors include his wife, Lucille Grubbs Sims; a son, Carl Sims of Danville; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Robert D. Sims, and a daughter, Susan Smith. Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Preston-Pruitt Funeral Home by the Rev. Jolene Bailey. Burial will be in Hustonville Cemetery with military rites by Caswell Saufley Post 18 of the American Legion. Visitation is 5-8 p.m. Friday.
