Sarah Elizabeth Thurman, 102, of Lexington Avenue died Friday at her 
home.

Born Sept., 24, 1899, in Simpson County, she was the daughter of the 
late Livingston B. and Sarah Jane Starks Thurmond. She was the widow 
of Stephen Livingston Thurman. She was a member of First Christian 
Church (Disciples of Christ.)

Survivors include a son, Ret. Gen. William Thurman of Pinehurst, N.C., 
and a daughter Rosemary Hamblin of Danville; eight grandchildren; 
and 10 great-grandchildren.

Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Hodgenville Christian Church. 
Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at First Christian 
Church (Disciples of Christ).
