Kinnaird Oakes was born in Garrard County, Kentucky on 21 February 1894 to 
Benjamin Franklin Oakes and Paralee Pollard.  Kinnaird Oakes married Isa Earle 
Young, daughter of Abner Bryant Young and Mary Ellen Baugh, on 18 December 
1913.  According to family records, the wedding took place in a buggy at Rev. 
Powers' house on a road called "Green River," going to McKinney from Halls 
Gap.
