One of the young men of Grant County who have come to the front in Grant County in recent years as a farmer is Mr. S. L. Bonar, of the Oak Ridge neighborhood. He was born in Bracken County, Ky., August 19, 1853, and is a son of the late Barney Bonar and Mrs. Thursday Bonar. Mr. Bonar grew up on a farm, attended the common schools of the neighborhood where his father resided, and when grown began life for himself as a farmer, and has been very successful at his favorite calling. April 20, 1881, he was united in marriage to Mary Ann Groves. They have no children of their own, but have adopted a couple of lovely orphans, and are living in peace, plenty and quiet at their home on Oak Ridge Turnpike Road. Mr. Bonar is the owner of 250 acres of good land, and farms quite extensively and is a breeder of fine live stock. He is a Democrat in politics and a member of the Baptist Church, both he and his good wife. Altogether he is a model citizen.
