Weems, all of whom are the Legal heirs and Legatees of William & Gabriel Alexander deceased. And whereas the aforesaid heirs and representatives are willing and wish to convey the aforesaid deceased tract of Land to their relative Margaret Alexander for the payment of which she has given Land with approved Security for the payment of the consideration money to be paid out of her portion and share of William and Gabriel Alexanders estates so soon as it can be collected. Now this Indenture made and entered into this 4th day of May in the year of 1821 between John Alexander and Jane his wife and Samuel Pilson and Dorcus his wife of Brown County Ohio and Andrew Alexander and Nancy his wife of Adams County State of Ohio and William Hollis and Martha his wife of Bracken County and Samuel Masters and Elizabeth his wife of Mason County all of the state of Kentucky and James S. Weems and Eliza his wife Clarke County state of Indiana of the one part and Margaret Alexander of Bracken County and State of Kentucky of the other part. Witnesseth that the party of the first part for and in consideration of the sum of Fifteen hundred Dollars current money to them in hand paid the rect. whereof is hereby acknowledged hath granted, Bargained and Sold and by these presents doth grant bargain alien and confirm unto the said Margaret Alexander her heirs and assigns forever a certain tract or parcel of Land situate lying and being in the County of Bracken and state of Kentucky on the waters of Locust creek Beginning at a beech near the mill pond on the west side thereof thence down the same and along the mill race? [smudged] on the west side thereof as it [illegible] a stone near the mill house on the west side thereof thence west 104 poles to a stone thence South 74-1/2 west 64-1/2 poles to a read & white oak thence South 1-1/2 East 104-1/2 poles to [illegible] Oak Donovans Corner thence 89o East 129 poles to the beginning Containing one hundred acres together with all and sing. the advantages and appertinances thereunto belonging or in any wise appertaining to the same unto the said Margaret Alexander her heirs Exec'rs and Adm'rs to have and to hold the aforesaid tract or parcel of Land to the only proper use benefit and behoof of her the said Margaret Alexander her heirs &c and the parties of the first do covenant promise and agree to and with the said Margaret Alexander her heirs that they will warrant and forever defend the aforesaid tract or parcel of Land from the Claim or Claims of all and every person or persons whatsoever. In testimony whereof the parties of the first part have hereunto set their hands and affixed their seals the day and year first above written. Anderson Jr. John Burkett State of Kentucky Bracken County Sct. This day Martha Hollis wife of Wm. Hollis and Eliza Weems wife of James S. Weems two of the grantors in the within deed came before us the subscribers two of the commonwealth's Justices of the peace of said county and being by us examined separate and apart from their said husbands they doth freely relinquish their right of inheritance to said Land hereby Conveyed without force or threats from their said husbands and that they were willing the same should be recorded as such. Given under our hands this 4th day of May 1821. Robert Walton Chas. Anderson Jr. State of Ohio, Adams County Sct. I certify that this day the within named Andrew Alexander and Nancy his wife personally appeared before me the subscriber a Justice of the peace in and for the County aforesaid and severally acknowledged the signing sealing of the within deed to be their act and deed for the within purposes mentioned, the said Nancy Alexander being first by me fully informed of the contents of the within deed and also examined separate and apart from and out of the hearing of her husband declared that she did and now doth voluntarily and of her own free will and accord seal and as her act and deed relinquish her right of dower to the premises therein mentioned without the coercion or compulsion of her said husband. Given under my hand and seal this 23rd of May 1821. Aaron Moore (Seal) The State of Ohio, Brown County, SS Personally appeared before me an acting Justice of the peace for the County aforesaid John Alexander and ack'd. the signing sealing & delivering of the within conveyance to be his act and deed for the purposes therein mentioned and also at the same time came Jane Alexander wife of said John Alexander and being separate from her husband I made the within contents known to her for which she ack'd. the signing and sealing of the within deed of Conveyance to be her own free act and good will without the any threat or coercion of her said husband. Given under my hand and seal this 26th day of May 1821. Stephen Reynolds (Seal) The State of Ohio, Brown County, SS I do hereby certify that this day personally came before me a Subscribing Justice of the peace in and for the County aforesaid Samuel Pilson and ack'd. the signing sealing and delivering the foregoing conveyance to be his free and voluntary will for the purposes therein mentioned, also at the same time came Dorcus Pilson and being separate and apart from her said husband Samuel Pilson I fully made known the foregoing contents of contents of [sic] conveyance for which she acknowledged the signing sealing and delivering to be her own free will and accord without threats persuasions or compulsion of her said husband and desires the same may be put on record for the [illegible] purposes therein mentioned. This day Elizabeth Masters wife of Samuel Masters one of the grantors in this within Deed came personally before the subscribers two of the Commonwealth Justices of the peace of Said County and being by us examined separate and apart from her husband she doth freely relinquish her right of inheritance in said land hereby Conveyed without persuasions from her said husband, and that she is willing the same should be recorded as such. Given under our hands and seals this 11th day of August 1821. Charles Anderson Jr John Burkett Bracken County October 1st 1821 This deed of Bargain and sale from the heirs of William & Gabriel Alexander to Margaret Alexander was this day produced in my office and [illegible] the oath of Charles Anderson as to all of the grantors & by the oath of Robert Walton as to all the grantors except Samuel Masters and by the oath of John Burkett as to him and together with this certificate thereon indorsed was duly recorded in my office.
