All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/ky/kyfiles.html ************************************************ File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: Linda Deppner http://www.genrecords.net/emailregistry/vols/00012.html#0002870 January 22, 2011, 1:11 am Written: June 7, 1826 Recorded: July 7, 1826 Bracken County, Kentucky Deed Book H, pages 59-60 Masters to Alexander - Deed This Indenture made the 7th day of June in the year our lord One thousand eight hundred and twenty six Between Samuel Masters and Betsy his wife of Mason County and state of Kentucky of the one part and Elizabeth Alexander of the county of Bracken and state aforesaid of the other part Witnesseth that the said Samuel Masters and Betsy his wife for and in consideration of the sum of one hundred and fifty dollars current money of the United States unto them in hand paid by the said Elizabeth Alexander the receipt whereof they do hereby acknowledge and thereof do release, acquit and discharge the said Elizabeth Alexander her heirs Ex'ors and adm'rs by these presents have granted bargained sold, aliened, released and confirmed and by these presents do grant bargain sell alien release and confirm unto the said Elizabeth Alexander her heirs and assigns a certain piece or parcel of of [sic] land with a mill thereon formerly the property of Gabriel Alexander dec'd situate lying and being on the waters of Locust Bracken County and state aforesaid Beginning at a stone in Tabbs line thence with said line South ?? West 113-1/2 poles to Lynn thence South 29° W 27-1/2 poles crossing the mill pond to a beach on the west bank thence with the race on the west side to a stone near the mill house thence S. 72° E. 3 poles to a stone thence North 17° W. 15 poles to a stone thence North 59° E. 19 poles to the beginning containing 13 acres together with all and singular the rights Improvements Hereditaments and appurtenances whatsoever thereunto belonging or in any wise appertaining and the Revisions and Remainders Rents Issues and profits thereof of their sixth undivided part in and to said Estate also all the right title Interest use property claim and demand whatsoever of them the said Samuel Masters and Betsy his wife in law or equity of and in the premises aforesaid and every part thereof To have and to hold all and singular the sixth undivided part of the premises with the appurtenances hereby granted unto the said Elizabeth Alexander her heirs and assigns to the only proper use and behoof of the said Elizabeth Alexander her heirs and assigns forever and the said Samuel Masters and Betsy his wife covenant with the said Elizabeth Alexander for themselves and their heirs that they have good right to convey said land and mill to said Elizabeth Alexander in manner and form aforesaid and that the said land is free from all incumbrances whatsoever and lastly that the said Samuel Masters & Betsy his wife and their heirs all and singular the premises hereby granted with the appurtenances unto the said Elizabeth Alexander her heirs and assigns against the said Samuel Masters and Betsy his wife and their heirs and all and every other person or persons shall warrant and forever defend by these presents. Sealed and del'd in presence of [no names here] Bracken County, July 7th 1826 This deed of bargain and sale from Samuel Masters and Elizabeth his wife to Elizabeth was this day ack'd. by the said Masters to be his act and deed and the said Elizabeth wife of said Samuel was this day examined separate and apart from her said husband and relinquished her right of dower in the estate hereby conveyed and declared that she did the same freely and voluntarily without the persuasion or threats of her said husband and that she was willing the same should be recorded as which is duly done.
